Like them or loathe them, a few decades ago, a single-issue political party was formed called UKIP to achieve the ambitious goal of taking the UK out of the European Union. Many people initially laughed and ridiculed them at what seemed impossible, but they persevered and plodded on. As its name implies, the UK Independence Party had one key policy - to leave the European Union.

The party's name contained a simple and understandable message that left their supporters without illusions about what the party stood for. However, some people mistakenly dismissed it as a pointless single-issue party not to be taken seriously. Nevertheless, UKIP proved those cynics wrong, and against all the odds, the party achieved its aim. Since then, due to its growth, it has developed other policies.

Usually, minor parties habitually disintegrate into obscurity within a short period; Cymru has seen a few come and go over the years. However, a single-issue party can survive these pitfalls if its message is clear and unrelenting; the call for a Welsh Republic will always be fashionable whilst we have an undemocratic foreign monarchy lording it over us.

Gweriniaeth Cymru (Republic of Wales) has a precise aim, and it's in the name. Once the party has been established, it will eventually evolve and develop pro-Cymru nationalist policies on housing, transport, culture, natural resources, national identity, and other vital issues.

Please donate here if you agree with our aim and want to help Gweriniaeth Cymru become a political force.

Diolch/Thanks.
